Hello Everybody,

It looks like consumers are starting to spend money again.  Orders on client’s web sites are starting to come back and that’s good to see. :-)  This reflects over all Internet trends.

Now, on to the news.

++Buy Beauty Online

It seems that it was a $25 billion dollars sales generator last year on the Internet.  Buying beauty products is easier online.  Why?  According to this report 75% of consumers said it was because they could shop any time.  A whopping 54% said it was because the products were delivered.  Convenience really does seem to be key to some sales.  Read the full article for more reasons why people bought beauty products online.

++Top 50 Sites for February, 2000

Is it any surprise that Quicken, the Turbo Tax company, made it to the Top 50 this month?  You’ve got to love tax time. :-)  In the meantime, some “etailers” made it back on to the list this month.   This confirms that the sales on our sites are increasing along with a general increase of purchases on the Internet as a whole.

++Bill Gates to settle with Feds

After all the work, time and effort to catch Bill Gates squelching competition, he may get off with just a reprimand.  All that talk about restructuring, breaking up the company and other punishments, may have been just that – talk.  A settlement is near.

++Suing Spammers

If you receive spam, you can ask to be taken off their list.  If they don’t do it, you can sue them for $500 for each email sent subsequent to your request.  This bill just passed the House.  It includes other provisions, but maybe this type of fine could do the trick.

In addition, people can no longer use the email addresses collected from domain registrations to send out spam.  That would be great because those emails are collected daily and sold.  We’ve all gotten spam as a result of simply owning a domain name.

Read the full article to see how you can stop spam and definitely read it if you plan to buy a list of email addresses and send out email advertisements.
